L’album tributo sui Velvet Underground
I seminali Velvet Underground torneranno in vita in un album di cover intitolato I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute To The Velvet Underground & Nico. La ricca compilation sarà disponibile il 24 settembre da Verve Records e verrà infarcita dalla rivisitazioni di alcuni brani storici della band guidata da Lou Reed.
L’opera conterrà brani rivisitati da Iggy Pop & Matt Sweeney, Michael Stipe, Matt Berninger dei The National, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Fontaines D.C. e Thurstoon Moore dei Sonic Youth in coppia con Bobby Gillespie dei Primal Scream.Contestualmente all’annuncio è disponibile Run Run Run eseguita da Kurt Vile & The Violators. Saranno successivamente disponibili dal sito della Verve anche vinili e vinili test pressing autografati da Kurt Vile e da altri artisti coinvolti nell’operazione.

Il documentario sui Velvet Underground
Come vi avevamo ampiamente dettaglio in una notizia dello scorso ottobre, i Velvet Underground rivivranno in un documentario. A dirigere l’opera ci penserà il regista Todd Haynes e verrà reso disponibile attaverso Apple TV + che ne ha acquisito i diritti. La pellicola baserà le sue fondamenta sull’eredità culturale della band. Da quello che trapela sarà disponibile ammirare esibizioni inedite, sessioni in studio, estratti con Andy Warhol (amico e manager della band) e altre chicche.
Prodotto da Polygram Entertainment, Motto Pictures, Killer Films, in associazione con Federal Films, il documentario vedrà come produttori Haynes, Christine Vachon, Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements, Carolyn Hepburn e David Blackman. Secondo la nota stampa, il film intitolato semplicemente The Velvet Underground
