Periodo di rinascita per i Metallica. La band, dopo aver annunciato una tappa in Italia prevista per il 19 giugno 2022 all’interno del Firenze Rocks, annuncia un nuovo album. Il grande successo della band pubblicato nel 1991 The Black Album, compie 30 anni ad agosto e per festeggiare pubblicano una nuova edizione dell’album, oltre a un enorme album di cover di 4 CD/7 LP e 53 tracce con interpretazioni di artisti di in tutta la mappa musicale, inclusi St Vincent, Kamasi Washington, My Morning Jacket, Phoebe Bridgers, J. Balvin, IDLES, Flatbush Zombies, Portogallo. The Man, Jason Isbell, Mac DeMarco, Moses Sumney, Rina Sawayama, PUP, The Neptunes, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Weezer, The HU, Dave Gahan , frontman dei Depeche Mode , Darius Rucker, OFF!, Chris Stapleton, Diet Cig, Cage the Elephant , Miley Cyrus (feat. WATT, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo e Chad Smith), e molto altro.

Le canzoni

La storica “Enter Sandman” verrà riproposta da sei artisti (Mac DeMarco, Weezer e altri), “Unforgiven” da sette artisti (Diet Cig, Cage the Elephant, Moses Sumney e altri), mentre “Nothing Else Matters” viene risuonata da 12 artisti tra cui Dave Gahan, My Morning Jacket, Darius Rucker e Chris Stapleton. I profitti di The Metallica Blacklist verranno dati a 52 diverse associazioni di beneficenza, tutte scelte dagli artisti che hanno contribuito al disco. Per quanto riguarda la nuova edizione di The Black Album, la band l’ha definita la “riedizione definitiva” ed è stata “rimasterizzata per la massima qualità del suono” e sarà disponibile in alcune versioni differenti: un doppio vinile LP da 180 grammi e CD standard, un’edizione ampliata di 3 CD e un cofanetto deluxe in edizione limitata contenente l’album rimasterizzato, un picture disc, tre LP live, 14 CD (contenenti rough mix, demo, interviste, spettacoli dal vivo), 6 DVD (contenenti outtake, dietro le quinte, video ufficiali, spettacoli dal vivo), un libro con copertina rigida di 120 pagine, oltre a riproduzioni laminate del tour, litografie, foto di chitarre e altro ancora.
